Everyone likes a break. Generate have been organising and supporting holidays for people with a learning disability for many years and our photo albums bear testament to the beneficial effects for groups of people who can get away and relax with friends.
In January each year we publish our planned holidays and invite all current Generate service users to put their name down for the holiday of their choice. They are supported with payment plans and invited to a pre-holiday meeting to help them prepare – importantly we talk about what to pack and how much spending money is appropriate. Every holiday is supported by Generate Staff who know the group.
Places are limited and demand usually outstrips places available but we do invite people to make their own suggestions and are able to support Friendship Groups to plan a holiday together if required (see information on Friendship Groups). The group can pool budgets to buy the support they need to plan and go on a holiday of their choice.
Generally speaking we will only offer holiday places to people who are known to us.
